A kindred old man, slightly enamored of Madame Crawford. A Kentucky girl and the eventual Mrs. Hildenbrand. . Spirits who torment Emma in death. Adventurous young boys. |

CastingThe cast may range from a minimum of a three to a maximum of seven. Besides Emma, there should be a gender balance among the actors. Offstage voices, whether live or recorded, may be renamed, renumbered, and/or synthesized in any number of ways according to the production concept. In a cast of three, Emma may double as Alice. In a larger cast, lines belonging to the Eastern and Western Winds may be given to the Southern Wind.

DedicationThis play is dedicated to the town of Manitou Springs, Colorado. As such, it is the playwright’s wish that this play may be performed, without any payment of royalties, within the vicinity of Manitou Springs. The principle condition for this waiver of royalties is that all ticket revenue from at least one performance per year, or per season, be donated to a nonprofit entity, based in Manitou Springs. At the playwright’s discretion, exclusive production rights for one season may be granted preferentially to production companies based in Manitou Springs, followed by those based in greater El Paso County.
